Rick Mix, Founder, President, and CEO
Richard (Rick) Mix founded CSI in January 2004. As Chief Executive Officer, Rick is charged with setting strategic direction, mentoring senior executives, leading the external corporate advisory board, and overseeing the corporate executives charged with running the company. He also provides daily technical program management to a key client. Prior to starting CSI, Rick worked for Science Applications International Corporation and Braddock, Dunn, and McDonald. Beginning his career as a certified Oracle Designer/Developer, he transitioned to his current role in software project management. Rick’s IT mission support spans multiple industries and political environments, including the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, State and Local Governments, and Criminal Justice Agencies. He earned a Bachelors in Finance from the Pennsylvania State University and a Masters in Business Administration from George Washington University. Rick is an avid golfer.
Chris Wheedleton, VP and COO
Chris Wheedleton joined CSI in 2007 and became Chief Operating Officer in 2012 after serving as a CSI Account Manager and Senior Consultant. He is currently responsible for the performance of all revenue-generating consultants and business development activities. Chris has over 30 years experience serving the federal and commercial IT and publishing markets, including 18½ years at Science Applications International Corporation. Starting out as a junior engineer supporting a range of projects in manufacturing studies for the Defense Advance Research Projects Agency, he quickly established his technical proficiencies in applied markup and publishing technologies. Chris is a recognized Defense and Intelligence Community leader in IC IT governance and policy, IC technical specifications, and information production, sharing, management, and dissemination. His long client list includes multiple Intelligence Community agencies, Office of the Director of National Intelligence, US Pacific Command/J2, US Central Command/J2, Office of Naval Intelligence, and National Ground Intelligence Center, among others. Chris is credited as the original developer of the IC’s Extensible Markup Language (XML) data specification for intelligence publications and the author of the IC Standard for “Tagging of Intelligence and Intelligence-related Information”. Chris earned a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech. He enjoys watching Virginia Tech and Washington Redskins football and Washington Capitals hockey.
Dan Klemm, VP and CISO
Daniel (Dan) Klemm joined CSI in 2015 and currently serves as Chief Information Security Officer, responsible for not only securing CSI’s IT and information, but also managing our facility security certifications and personnel security program. Dan has over 35 years applying systems and security engineering to challenging Defense and Intelligence Community problems. He is a reknown cybersecurity expert responsible for authoring numerous federal government policies and instructions for security risk management, assessment & authorization processes, security control baselines, and standard vocabularies. Dan earned a Bachelors in Computer Information Systems from Jacksonville University and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, Certified Information Security Manager, and Certified in IT Service Management Foundations.
Kathy Duffie, VP of Corporate Resources
Kathy Duffie joined CSI in 2009 and serves as Vice President of Corporate Resources. She provides management and leadership for a staff of professionals responsible for program finance, human resources, and contracts. Kathy has nearly 20 years of experience in contract management, program control, cost estimating and pricing, and program and personnel management. While at CEXEC she provided contract and program control support for Federal Aviation Administration and DoD contracts. During her tenure at CSI she has overseen subcontracts and program control for our support to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Office of the Director of National Intelligence, Army IT Agency, and other large Intelligence Community agencies. Kathy’s breadth of experience supporting the government contracting has exposed her to the entire Federal Government Contract Management life cycle to include the development of RFPs; the review of cost, technical and past performance proposals; the administration of contracts; and the close-out or termination of contracts. Her program control experience includes the construction of complex pricing models; developing cost estimates, evaluating subcontractor/contractor rates, overhead pools, and basis of estimates; developing data bases for CLIN pricing; drafting pre/post negotiation documentation; reviewing DCAA Audits/Rate Evaluations, Subcontractor Reviews, and Technical (Q&Q) evaluations for inclusion in pre-negotiation documentation; and preparing and analyzing Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCEs). Kathy received a Bachelors in Finance from James Madison University and Masters of Business Administration from George Mason University. She spends much of her spare time being a sports mom.
